Associations of Nigerians in Slovenia
Nigerian citizens living in Slovenia officially registered the Association of Nigerians in Slovenia in March 2005. The Association is dedicated to Nigerians, their family members and friends, and admirers of Nigerian culture. It is a non-profitable organization, independent and voluntary union of Nigerians, with an aim to increase recognition of Nigerian and African community in Slovenia, to present Nigerian culture, tradition and way of life, to perform general integration of the Nigerian community in Slovenian society, to encourage unity among Nigerians, to enable better comprehension of the community, to participate in cultural and intercultural activities and last but not least to focus on possible violations of human rights and to call for tolerance.
Below are briefs of what ANS/DNS activities involve:
• Support for individuals and Development of Groups in Slovenia
• Grassroots representation, Submissions and Advocacy
• Charitable Activities for the disadvantaged and disenfranchised
• Trainings, Workshops, Conferences and Seminars
• Consultations on cultural issues bearing on Nigeria and Africa
Mission Statement and Vision:
To be an effective voice for community in Slovenia, with effective representation before government and agencies as we contribute to issues that impact on us. To promote programs that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians in Slovenia and Europe as a whole and to make positive contributions to our community
